A scared puppy discovers his shadow in the morning light.

Max the puppy opened his eyes to a beautiful morning. As he stretched on his cozy blue bed, something strange caught his attention. There, on the wall, was a dark shape that moved when he moved! “Oh no!” Max yelped, ducking under his blanket. “There’s something following me!” His tiny heart raced as he peeked out from his hiding spot. The mysterious shape was still there, mimicking his every move. Max had never noticed this strange follower before, and it made his fur stand on end.

Gathering all his courage, Max decided to investigate. He crept into the living room where sunlight streamed through the windows. The dark shape followed him, growing bigger and smaller as he moved. “Maybe if I jump, it will go away!” Max thought. He jumped left – the shape jumped left. He jumped right – the shape jumped right. “How strange,” Max wondered, starting to feel less scared. He began to notice something funny – when he wagged his tail, the shape wagged too. When he tilted his head, the shape did the same.

In the afternoon, Max ventured into the backyard. The sun was playing hide and seek with the clouds, making his mysterious follower appear and disappear. “I’m going to be brave,” Max declared, puffing out his chest. He turned to face the shape directly. “I’m not afraid of you anymore!” he barked confidently. As he moved around the garden path, he realized something amazing – this wasn’t a scary creature at all! “You’re just my shadow!” Max laughed, watching as his shadow danced with him under the shifting sunlight.

As the evening sun painted the living room in warm, golden light, Max sat proudly on the couch. He had discovered that his shadow wasn’t scary at all – it was like having a faithful friend who was always there to play with him. “You’re actually quite fun,” Max said to his shadow, watching it stretch across the floor. He no longer hid under blankets or jumped at the dark shape on the wall. Instead, Max had learned that sometimes the things that scare us the most turn out to be nothing to fear at all. From that day on, Max and his shadow became the best of playmates, sharing adventures and making funny shapes together in the sunlight.
