The morning sun peeked through Tommy’s window, casting golden rays across his bedroom. Tommy stood in his favorite blue star-patterned pajamas, carefully tying his special red cape around his shoulders. “Today,” he whispered to himself, “I’m going to fly!” His room was filled with superhero posters, and his toy chest lay open, stuffed animals watching with excitement.
Tommy looked at his reflection in the window, striking his best superhero pose with hands on hips. The morning light made his cape glow like real superhero gear. He could feel his heart beating fast with excitement. “Every superhero has their first flight,” he said, remembering all the stories he’d read.

In the backyard, Tommy found the perfect launching spot – the garden bench. The morning breeze made his cape flutter behind him. Birds chirped their encouragement from the nearby tree, and butterflies danced around the flowers. Tommy stretched his arms out wide, just like his favorite superheroes did.
“Up, up, and away!” he shouted, bouncing slightly on his toes. He closed his eyes tight and jumped… but instead of soaring into the sky, he landed softly in the grass. But Tommy wasn’t discouraged. “Maybe I need to practice more,” he thought, brushing off his pajamas.

At the playground, Tommy discovered something amazing. Standing at the top of the tall slide, his cape billowing in the wind, he felt like he was on top of the world. Other children watched in awe as he struck his superhero pose.
“This is it!” Tommy declared. As he zoomed down the slide, his cape streaming behind him, it felt just like flying! The wind rushed past his face, and for a moment, he was sure he was soaring through the air. He went down the slide again and again, each time feeling more and more like a real superhero.

Back in his room, Tommy sat on his bed, still wearing his beloved cape. He hugged his teddy bear close and smiled, thinking about his day. Maybe he hadn’t flown exactly like Superman, but he’d discovered his own kind of flying. The afternoon sun made peaceful shadows dance on his walls as he looked through his favorite superhero storybook.
“You know what?” he told his teddy bear, “Being super isn’t just about flying. It’s about trying new things and being brave!” With that thought, Tommy felt like the happiest superhero in the world. His cape might not have given him the power to fly, but it had given him the courage to try, and that was pretty super indeed.
