Tommy wiped the sweat from his forehead as he dug in the freshly tilled soil. His loyal Border Collie, Max, stood nearby, watching curiously. They were helping prepare the field for spring planting when Tommy’s shovel hit something hard. “What’s this, Max?” he wondered aloud. As he brushed away more soil, a strange blue glow caught his eye. There, buried in the earth, was a large, pearl-white egg with mysterious blue patterns swirling across its surface.
“Look, boy!” Tommy whispered excitedly. Max tilted his head and gave a small whine. The egg was warm to the touch and seemed to pulse with an inner light. Tommy had never seen anything like it before. It was bigger than any chicken egg he’d ever collected, about the size of a basketball.

Carefully, Tommy wrapped the egg in his jacket and carried it to the old barn. He didn’t want to tell his parents just yet – what if they took it away? He created a soft nest using fresh hay and covered the egg with an old blanket to keep it warm. Max lay nearby, keeping watch as the afternoon sun streamed through the barn windows.
Throughout the evening, Tommy checked on the egg every hour. Each time, the blue patterns seemed to glow brighter, and he could feel gentle movements from within. The pulsing light cast dancing shadows on the barn walls, and Tommy could have sworn he heard soft tapping sounds coming from inside the egg.

Just before midnight, Tommy was awakened by Max’s urgent barking. He rushed to the barn and couldn’t believe his eyes. The egg was floating in mid-air, surrounded by a brilliant blue light! Pieces of the shell began to crack and rise into the air, as if gravity had stopped working. Even loose straws of hay floated around the egg like golden stars.
Tommy held his breath as the cracks grew larger. Max crouched behind him, both frightened and fascinated. The blue light grew so bright that Tommy had to shield his eyes. Then came a sound – not quite a chirp, not quite a roar – unlike anything Tommy had ever heard before.

As the light faded, Tommy lowered his hands and gasped. There, curled up in the remaining hay, was a baby dinosaur! It was about the size of a puppy, with shimmering blue-tinted scales and gentle eyes that looked straight into Tommy’s soul. Max cautiously approached, sniffing the tiny creature, which responded with a friendly chirp.
Tommy knelt beside the baby dinosaur, gently stroking its warm scales. “Don’t worry, little one,” he whispered, “I’ll take care of you.” He wrapped the creature in the old blanket as Max settled down beside them. As moonlight streamed through the barn windows, Tommy realized his ordinary farm life had just become extraordinary. He had no idea what adventures awaited him, but he knew this was just the beginning of an amazing friendship.
