Once upon a time, in a cozy house in the Animal Kingdom, there lived a little elephant named Timmy. Every morning was the same struggle. “I don’t want to brush my teeth!” Timmy trumpeted, stomping his foot on the bathroom step stool. His trunk swayed from side to side as he turned away from the toothbrush his mama held out.
“But Timmy,” Mama Elephant said gently, her trunk holding out the blue toothbrush, “all good elephants brush their teeth to keep them strong and clean.” The morning sunlight streamed through the bathroom window, making the yellow tiles sparkle, but Timmy wasn’t impressed. He crossed his trunk and looked at his reflection in the mirror, his star-patterned pajamas matching his stubborn expression.

One day, Timmy woke up with a terrible toothache. “Ouch!” he cried, his trunk holding his cheek. Mama took him to see Dr. Giraffe at the Animal Kingdom Dental Clinic. The waiting room was filled with other animal children, but Timmy was too worried to play with the toys in the corner.
Dr. Giraffe, with his spotty coat and kind eyes behind gold-rimmed glasses, called Timmy’s name. “Let’s take a look at those teeth,” he said warmly, leading Timmy and his mama to the examination room. Timmy’s trunk trembled as he walked, his star pajamas seeming less bright under the fluorescent lights.

In the bright examination room, Timmy lay back in the big blue dental chair. Dr. Giraffe’s long neck bent down as he looked at Timmy’s teeth. “Oh dear,” he said, pointing to some spots on the x-ray, “you have some cavities that need fixing.”
Timmy’s eyes grew wide as Dr. Giraffe explained how he would fix the cavities. The dental tools clinked on the silver tray, and Timmy squeezed his mama’s trunk for comfort. “Don’t worry,” Dr. Giraffe assured him, “it won’t hurt, but we need to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

That evening, back at home, something amazing happened. Timmy climbed onto his step stool all by himself, picked up his toothbrush, and started brushing. “Look, Mama!” he said proudly, “I’m brushing all my teeth, just like Dr. Giraffe showed me!”
Mama Elephant watched from the doorway, her heart full of joy. The bathroom timer ticked away as Timmy brushed each tooth carefully. From that day on, Timmy never refused to brush his teeth again. He knew that clean, healthy teeth meant no more visits to fix cavities, and his smile grew brighter with each passing day.
“Remember,” he would tell his friends at school, “brushing your teeth is like giving them a big hug every day!” And every night, before bed, Timmy’s trunk would reach for his toothbrush without any reminder from Mama, making her the proudest elephant mama in the Animal Kingdom.
