Percy the Penguin stood on the ice shelf, letting out a big yawn as the orange and pink sunset painted the sky. His mama smiled, watching her little one’s sleepy stretches. The cool Antarctic breeze ruffled Percy’s fluffy feathers, making his blue scarf flutter gently.
“Time for bed, my little snowflake,” Mama Penguin said softly, adjusting her pink ribbon. Percy looked up at the first twinkling stars appearing in the sky. “But Mama, the stars are just waking up!” he chirped, his small flippers waving excitedly.
Mama Penguin chuckled, “Yes, and they’ll watch over you while you sleep.” She led Percy toward their cozy ice cave, where a soft blanket waited on his crystal-clear ice bed. The star mobile above his bed sparkled, catching the last rays of sunlight.

Inside his ice cave bedroom, Percy couldn’t seem to fall asleep. He tossed and turned on his bed, watching the starlight filter through the crystal ceiling. His friend Sidney the Seal poked his spotted head into the cave.
“Can’t sleep, Percy?” Sidney asked, his heart-shaped nose twitching. Percy shook his head, “The aurora lights are so pretty, Sidney! They’re dancing just for me!” The green and purple lights swirled above through the ice ceiling.
Sidney smiled wisely, “Would you like to hear a story? Sometimes that helps little penguins fall asleep.” Percy nodded eagerly, snuggling deeper into his blanket as Sidney began to tell tales of underwater adventures.

When Sidney’s story didn’t help, Percy went for a little walk outside with his friend Boris the Polar Bear. The gentle snowflakes fell around them as Boris, wearing his favorite red bow tie, pointed at the brilliant stars above.
“Look, Percy,” Boris said softly, “each star has its own story. See that group there? That’s the Great Penguin constellation.” Percy sipped his warm milk, watching in wonder as Boris traced patterns in the sky with his large paw.
The Northern Lights danced overhead, creating a magical light show just for them. Percy felt his eyelids growing heavier as he listened to Boris’s soothing voice telling stories about the stars.

Back in his ice cave, Percy snuggled into his soft blue blanket. Mama Penguin sat beside him, gently stroking his head. The dream catcher above his bed swayed softly in the pre-dawn breeze, catching the first pink light of morning.
“Mama,” Percy mumbled sleepily, “I know why the stars stay awake all night now.” His mama smiled, “Why is that, my darling?” Percy’s eyes fluttered closed as he whispered, “To make sure all the little penguins have sweet dreams.”
Mama Penguin tucked the blanket around her sleeping little one, watching as peaceful dreams brought a smile to his face. The morning light painted gentle patterns on the ice walls, and somewhere outside, the stars began to fade into the dawn, their night watch complete.
